31st Pastoral Anniversary Reflections - 7:30am - Part 2 - By Shantell Stokeling
Through my participation in these entities I have reaped the benefits of strong leadership and discipleship. These benefits are those that can only be available if a strong leader exists, such as Bishop Brown. “With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.” (Psalm 78:72). In conjunction with the development of varying ministries, Bishop Brown also has the ability to stand before the people of God and proclaim the unapologetic word of God. I am always amazed at how he is able to connect to both young and seasoned and do so with such carefulness yet conviction that it challenges people to strengthen their walk with Christ day by day.
Along with connections to the congregation, Bishop Brown has made major impacts on the advancement of the church through community outreach. This has resulted in the creation of the day care center, project genesis, and achieve program. All of which are social outreach initiatives that impact and strengthen the connection of the church to the community. By growing and strengthening leaders in the church, you grow and strengthen leaders of the community.
Finally, Bishop Brown has shown to be an exuberant visionary with the vision of the new building we’ve acquired. The new center, as we know, is expected to house a dining hall, day care center, full commercial kitchen, and so much more putting Shiloh in position to begin reaching the “uttermost parts of the earth”
To know Bishop Brown is to know a man of humility and strength. To know Bishop Brown is to know a man of support. To know Bishop Brown is to know a man of care. I have witnessed Bishop there when my father was in several accidents. Bishop was there when my brother was injured. Bishop was there when my grandfather had surgery. Bishop was there when my great grandmother had a stroke and my grandmother had to step away from her leadership role to take care of her. Bishop was even there when my brother started his organization, HoopImpact and Bishop was there when my grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Because Bishop has been there for those who matter most to me, I know Bishop will be there for me when I need him and the great thing about our Bishop is that if he can, he will be there for you and your family as well. We can be confident in knowing that Bishop Brown will be there to support, care, and love on us because of his connection with God and his spirit led connection to the people; emphatically connecting the people of God to the vision of God.
